The Federation Starship Tucker was an Excalibur class cruiser, first commissioned in 2391. One of Starfleet's most versatile ships of the line, in 2409, the Tucker drew the job of performing the Federation Science Council's annual survey of the Hobus system, including the newly-formed Hobus Nebula and the still-active stellar remnant known as the Hobus Cinder. The mission was commanded by Admiral Kathryn Janeway.[1] Damar Kahn joined the ship at Starbase 39-Sierra as a mission specialist, to study the cause of the devastating supernova there,[2] as did Jake Sisko, covering the mission for the Federation News Service.[1] The ship was, presumably, named for Charles "Trip" Tucker III, chief engineer aboard the Enterprise NX-01.
