A standard Starfleet vessel intended for short-range missions, the Class F shuttlecraft was in widespread use by 2265,[1] largely superseding the Class C shuttlecraft.[2] Lightly armed, Class F shuttles only had two forward-facing weapons emplacements, and typically mounted an omnidirectional phaser bank and — in a refit version introduced in the early 25th century — a micro-torpedo launcher.[3]
