A noncorporeal, energy-based life form, the Medusan known as Zero was captured and held on Tars Lamora, where it was used as a weapon by The Diviner, forcing other enslaved captives to look at Zero without eye protection — an act which caused insanity in humanoids. Zero ultimately managed to craft a mechanical suit that would act as a body, and escaped. The Medusan began conducting acts of sabotage, hoping to stop the Diviner from attaining his goals. When Zero met Dal R'El, they joined together with two other captives; discovering a derelict Starfleet vessel, the U.S.S. Protostar NX-76884, the group managed to escape custody and flee from Tars Lamora.[1]
