Horseman class
Commissioned 2275
Advertising
SFC Timeline
(Starfleet Command Games)

The Hydran Kingdoms' Horseman class war cruiser, a variant of the Lancer class destroyer, was commissioned circa 2275. Designed to be 90% as effective and only 70% as expensive as the Ranger and Dragoon class cruisers, the Horseman class had fewer fusion beams than a Ranger, but with a better firing arc. The class proved to be a disappointment as a war cruiser and even extensive refits didn't solve its basic problems. The class was eventually replaced by the more powerful Mongol class medium cruiser — another Lancer variant — but remained in production for use as a source of variant hulls.

The HR-type featured a crew complement of 300, a capacity of four shuttlecraft, and was equipped with three science labs, two transporters, and two tractor beam emitters. The HR carried two squadrons of three Stinger class fighters, and was armed with two fusion beams, six banks of Type-2 phasers, and two banks of Type-G Gatling phasers. The HR remained in service until 2293, when it was superseded by the HR+ refit, introduced in 2281. The HR+ featured stronger shields and an improved weapons loadout of two fusion beams, one bank of Type-1 phasers, four banks of Type-2 phasers, and two banks of Tyle-G phasers. The HR+ remained in service until 2301.[1]
