Chulan was the Praetor of the Romulan Star Empire in 2387. He dismissed the concerns of both Ambassador Spock and Nero, a representative of the Romulan Mining Guild, regarding the threat posed by the Hobus star, which was on the verge of exploding as a supernova.[1] Chulan survived the destruction of Romulus by fleeing the planet in a Senate shuttlecraft just before the shockwave from the Hobus supernova struck. Soon thereafter, the shuttle was recovered by the Narada, and an enraged Nero killed Chulan with the Debrune Teral'n,[2] then ejected Chulan and the other senators into space.[3]
