Miral Paris was the daughter of Tom Paris and B'Elanna Torres of the U.S.S. Voyager NCC-74656, and was born as that ship was returning to Earth from the Delta Quadrant;[1] as a result, Paris considered herself to be a child of both the Alpha and Delta Quadrants.[2] Her childhood was far from normal, however, as she was believed by many Klingons to be the kuvah'magh — a savior figure prophesied in Klingon religious texts[3] — and as a result there were as many Klingons trying to kill her as there were trying to worship her.[2] Shortly after her graduation from Starfleet Academy, Paris was assigned as a junior tactical officer aboard the U.S.S. James T. Kirk,[4] an Exeter class cruiser.[5]

By 2409, Paris, now a lieutenant, was the chief of security aboard the Kirk. That year, she was specifically requested by Ambassador Kas of the Klingon Empire to attend a peace conference on Regulus IV, as Kas had always wanted to meet the kuvah'magh, and used his political influence to make it happen. Paris agreed, if only because it could potentially bring peace between the Federation and the Klingon Empire. The conference was attacked, however, by operatives from House B'vat, who believed the kuvah'magh prophecy was a myth, and who sought to disrupt the conference, prolong the war, and kill Paris. B'vat's forces were driven off, but the conference ended without resolution.[2]
