Lieutenant Painter was assigned to the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 in 2267 as a navigator. On Stardate 3417.3, Painter was on bridge duty when the ship came into orbit of the colony on Omicron Ceti III to investigate whether there were any survivors after three years of exposure to Berthold radiation.[1]
