The Galliant class short-range starfighters entered service on Reference Stardate 0/9604 (April 2096). These vessels were extremely maneuverable at sublight speeds, but were only armed with light weaponry. They were designed to be used at the new starbases for local defense and interception duties. Assigned in squadrons of 21, a total of 315 were built.[1][2]
