An otherwise vegetarian creature, spider-cows were kept as livestock by the Galardonians. On Stardate 57436.2, during a Second Contact mission from the United Federation of Planets by the U.S.S. Cerritos NCC-75567, a spider-cow took chase after Ensigns Brad Boimler and Beckett Mariner. The spider-cow sucked on Boimler, seeking to absorb the moisture from his skin; the creature's saliva left on his body ended up becoming the key to curing the crew of the ship that had been infected by a rage virus from the bite of an insect earlier that day.[1]
