The Galaxy class exploration cruiser was the flagship of Starfleet when it was first launched in the late 2350s. The most well-known Galaxy class vessel was the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-D, commanded by Captain Jean-Luc Picard. The standard Galaxy class featured four forward-facing and three aft-facing weapons emplacements, while the retrofit added an additional aft-facing weapons emplacement.[1]
