Following the second contact with the Galardonians on Stardate 57436.2, Stevens planned to join Commander Jack Ransom, the ship's first officer, for a beer, but the ship was soon overcome by a rage virus that left Stevens in Sickbay, where he had to undergo emergency open-heart surgery.[1]
