S-3 "Free Flight" class scout (FASA 2303)
- RSD 1/82: The Romulan S-3 "Free Flight" class (Type-1) scout enters service.[1]
March
- RSD 1/8203 through 1/8703 (March 2182 through March 2187): Klingon activities near the Federation border decrease dramatically during this period, with few Klingon warships seen and the number of routine confrontations dropping by more than 70 percent. Starfleet Intelligence will later learn from Operation Dixie that the Klingons are fighting a war with an unknown race along their coreward border.[2]
- RSD 1/82 through 1/87: Project Darkpearl, an operation conducted by Klingon Sector Intelligence, monitors Klingon shipbuilding activities while the Imperial Klingon Navy responds to the Unknown War. Though the project does not uncover the fact that the Klingons are fighting another war, it does give the first clues that another war might be taking place.[3]
September
- RSD 1/8209: Construction begins at Star Fleet's San Francisco Fleet Yards on the largest class of starships to date: the Constitution class.[4][5]
