Reference Stardate 1/1501 through 1/1512
- RSD 1/15: The Libran class U.S.S. Gemini, under the command of Captain Carlos Dos Passos, discovers a pair of planets in the Pyrimiis system that share an orbit, but are on course to collide in 2129. Both worlds, Pyrimiis I and II, are populated by intelligent humanoids, with the inhabitants of the first world roughly equivalent to the Renaissance period on Earth, and those on the second world somewhat less developed. Both populations considered a close bond to exist between their worlds, and the first world's population, having recently invented the telescope, has been "eagerly viewing their solar neighbor." Despite Captain Dos Passos informing them of their worlds' fate, the populations refuse to leave their homeworlds. On both planets, independent of one another, a religion developed worshipping the union of the two planets, and the pending collision is seen by the natives as a final reunion of the two, and the greatest event in their history.[1]
September
- RSD 1/1509: Investigators on Maxwell's Planet, an independent world, notify Earth-based law enforcement officers of an assassination plot against Federation Council President Sardix. Earth security officials conduct a cursory investigation, which turns up nothing.[2]
December
- RSD 1/1512: The prototype battle cruisers U.S.S. Goliath and the U.S.S. Juggernaut fail to meet performance specifications, so they are decommissioned and placed in storage. A major embarrassment for Star Fleet Engineering Command, fund allocations for research and development are virtually cut off for the next three decades. Star Fleet continues to accept commercial designs for new ships, but the Engineering Command only designs one major class, the Castor class cruiser, before 2148. The ships' failure to perform to specification is a major reason why both the Horizon and Marshall classes enjoyed such an extended commissioned life.[1][3]
