A blue-white giant in a binary system with ten planets, Epsilon Canaris (a contraction of the ancient Canaris Majoris) supports a large humanoid population on the third and fourth planets, both rating 16 on the Industrial Scale. Although not members of the United Federation of Planets, a Federation embassy was established on the neutral second planet in the system to prevent a possible interplanetary conflict. The system's combined population was 4.3 billion.[1]
