Commander Hansen was the commanding officer of Outpost 4 along the Romulan Neutral Zone in 2266. He was killed on Stardate 1709.2 when the outpost was destroyed by a Romulan Bird of Prey equipped with a new cloaking device and plasma torpedo weapon.[1]
