  • RSD 1/84: Star Fleet begins a large-scale construction program aimed at greatly expanding the fleet.[1]

February

  • RSD 1/8402: The largest space rescue in history occurs when the Voyager class U.S.S. Deerslayer recovers the 600 passengers and crew of the S.S. Juliana from an unexplored sector. An unexpected discontinuity in the warp drive violently transports the large cruise ship to an unfamiliar sector of space, well off their flight itinerary. The disruption also shattered the ship's dilithium assembly, killing all of the crew in the engineering section and causing a rapid and complete power loss aboard the ship, forcing the Captain Demetrius Kovanas to order all hands to abandon ship. Captain Demetrius triggered the ship's self-destruct, hoping that the explosion would provide a beacon for rescue vessels, but was unable to reach a lifeboat in time, and was lost with the Juliana. Captain Roger Trautman of the Deerslayer recommended that Trautman be posthumously honored with the Federation Medal of Honor.[2][3]

  • RSD 1/8410: Star Fleet's Marklin class destroyer becomes operational. The ship's performance does not meet with high expectations, and only 20 are built.[1]
