The Gorn Confederation's Anaconda class light cruiser (CL) first entered service in 2250, as well as the light commando cruiser (COM) variant. Over the course of the ensuing decades, multiple refits and variants were introduced. The base CL carried up to twelve shuttlecraft, had four science labs, two transporters, and a single tractor beam emitter, and was armed with Type-G plasma torpedoes and Type-1 phasers. The COM variant was largely identical, but had only two science labs and five transporters in order to deploy its complement of Marines and was armed with the smaller Type-F plasma torpedoes. The CL variant remained in service until 2288, while the COM variant remained in service until 2290.

The improved light cruiser (CL+) variant was introduced in 2279. Among the upgrades to the class, it was now armed with Type-S plasma torpedoes, and remained in service until 2301. The improved light commando cruiser (COM+) was introduced two years later, in 2281, though it retained the Type-F plasma torpedoes, and it remained in service until 2303.

The CLF variant of the light cruiser was introduced in 2289, and it featured both Type-S and Type-F plasma torpedoes, as well as both Type-1 and Type-3 phasers. The CLF variant remained in service until 2305. A year later, in 2290, the medium cruiser (CM) variant was introduced. The CM boasted an improved turning radius, faster warp drive, double the battery power capacity, stronger shields, a third transporter, and much heavier armament, including both Type-S and Type-F plasma torpedoes and Type-1 and Type-3 phasers, though at the cost of a reduced shuttle capacity of eight shuttlecraft. The class proved successful, and remained in service well into the 24th century.

The light commando cruiser was refit in 2291 to the COMF variant, which had many of the same specifications as the COM+, albeit with four torpedo launchers and both Type-1 and Type-3 phasers. In 2292, the strike cruiser (CS) variant was launched, featuring many of the same specifications as the CM variant, as well as three launchers for both Type-R and Type-G plasma torpedoes.

The final variant of the class, the medium command cruiser (MCC), was introduced in 2294. It possessed even stronger shields than the CM or CS variants, as well as four torpedo launchers for its complement of Type-S and Type-F plasma torpedoes.[1]
