Pyrimiis I and II, discovered in 2171 by the Libran class U.S.S. Gemini, under the command of Captain Carlos Dos Passos, collide, annihilating the populations of both worlds. The populations had refused to leave their homeworlds, as a religion had developed independently on both worlds, worshipping the union of the two planets, and the pending collision was seen by the natives as a final reunion of the two, and the greatest event in their history.
