Knight class
Commissioned 2256
Advertising

The Hydran Kingdoms' Knight class destroyer, a hellboare-armed variant of the Lancer class, was commissioned circa 2256 and provided the needed depth to hellbore support of a battle fleet. As the largest Hydran ship without fighters prior to the General War, it demonstrated that a ship without fighters could still be effective. The value of the ship as a fire support platform made fleet admirals reserve it for larger actions, and it was rarely used for solo patrols.

The KN-type featured a crew complement of 230, a capacity of three shuttlecraft, and was equipped with four science labs, one transporter, and one tractor beam emitter. The LN was armed with two hellbore weapons, three banks of Type-2 phasers, and two banks of Type-G Gatling phasers. The KN remained in service until 2282, when it was superseded by the KN+ refit, introduced in 2273. The KN+ featured slightly stronger shields and an improved weapons loadout of two hellbores, one bank of Type-1 phasers, two banks of Type-2 phasers, and two banks of Tyle-G phasers. The KN+ remained in service until 2296.[1]
