Captain Philippa Georgiou was the commanding officer of the U.S.S. Shenzhou NCC-1227.[1] On Stardate 1207.3, the ship was present at the Battle of the Binary Stars, the opening battle of the Federation-Klingon War of 2256-2257. After the battle had ended in defeat for the Starfleet forces, Georgiou and her first officer, Commander Michael Burnham, beamed aboard the Klingon flagship, intending to capture the Klingon leader, T'Kuvma, in order to force an end to the hostilities. Georgiou was killed in personal combat with T'Kuvma, who was in turn killed by Burnham, thus turning T'Kuvma into a martyr.[2]
