Ptolemy class[1]
Specifications[1]
Length 222m
Width 127.1m
Height 66m
Mass 126,500mt
Crew 220
Cruising speed Warp 6
Emergency speed Warp 8
Weapons 4 Phasers in 2 banks

The Ptolemy class tug was authorized for production on Stardate 0965.[1] Limited appropriations, however, resulted in only 15 vessels being completed, and the U.S.S. Ptolemy NCC-3801 was commissioned in October 2242.[2][Notes 1] Ptolemy class tugs were capable of towing a wide variety of standardized transport containers, including the Mark I, for liquids; the Mark II, for dry bulk products; the Mark III, for refrigerated goods; the Mark IV, for people, effectively transforming the Ptolemy class vessel into a starliner; and the Mark V, for other bulk products.[1]

Ptolemy class vessels

These Ptolemy class vessels were initially authorized for production on Stardates 3640 and 4990,[1] but limited approprations prevented them from being built.[2]

Notes

  1. "The Four Years War" referred to events by a FASA-specific dating standard called the "Reference Stardate." All dates in this article have been adapted from that notation into standard calendar dates, which are then adjusted for errors in the baseline dates used as reference by the FASA authors. Working with a known, dated event (e.g., the launch of the Constitution class starships), the other dates in the timeline can be adjusted accordingly. "The Four Years War" gives the launch of the Constitution class as Reference Stardate 1/8801.04, or 04 January 2188; this has been established on screen, however, as having occurred in 2245. As the exact month and date remain unstated in other sources, those remain the same, but the year is adjusted to 2245, giving a modified date of 04 January 2245. This can then be converted into the pre-TOS stardate system established in Star Trek (2009), giving us a stardate of 2245.004. Using this as a baseline, all other dates in the FASA timeline can be similarly modified and converted. The Ptolemy class was noted as becoming operational on Reference Stardate 1/8510; converting as stated previously gives a modified date of October 2242.
