The freighter Dierdre supposedly sent a distress call to the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 on Stardate 3497.2. The signal was a hoax sent by a Klingon vessel, and was the second Klingon attempt to prevent the Enterprise from returning to the planet Capella IV. Upon receipt of the fraudulent message, Chief Engineer Montgomery Scott, who was temporarily in command of the Enterprise at the time, succinctly commented, "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me."[1]
