The Jellyfish was a prototype vessel designed by Geordi La Forge[1] and launched in 2387.[2] The Jellyfish was designed to withstand atmospheres that would tear most ships apart, making it an ideal choice to travel to the heart of the Hobus supernova to deliver a payload of red matter.[1] Piloted by Spock, the Jellyfish was unable to escape the gravity well of the quantum singularity created by the red matter, and both it and the Narada were pulled in and presumed destroyed. In fact, both were pulled into the past, where history was radically altered by Nero's actions. The Jellyfish was destroyed in 2258, releasing the remainder of its red matter payload, creating a singularity that ultimately destroyed the heavily-damaged Narada.[2]
