The Federation Starship Black Elk, an Akira class fast attack heavy cruiser, was lost during a routine patrol of the Cardassian border[2] in 2369.[3]

  1. Although the commissioning date for the Black Elk was never given, the registry number is within the range of other ships established to have been commissioned in 2367, including the U.S.S. Akira NCC-62497 and the U.S.S. Nez Perce NCC-62891; it is therefore logical to conclude that the Black Elk was also commissioned at that time.
