U.S.S. Mundy (FASA)
The Federation Starship Mundy was an Aakenn class freighter. On Reference Stardate 2/1309, the Mundy was found adrift near Starbase 21. The vessel's onboard life support systems were operating, but there were no crewmembers aboard. The bridge showed signs of a struggle, but nearly all computer files had been lost and there was no recorded data to reveal what had happened. The last entry from the captain's log, from about four months earlier, made no mention of any emergency or possible danger. When the cargo hold was breached, it was found to hold millions of live Tribbles, living on the food produced by a synthesizer that had somehow been left on.[1]
The "Tribble ship," as it came to be called, was towed to Starbase 21, where it was discovered that the ship had been stolen two years earlier. The mystery remained unsolved until Reference Stardate 2/2205, when two of its crewmembers were found in a nearby asteroid cluster, somehow having been missed when search parties checked the area for survivors. They revealed that the ship had been boarded by a band of renegade Klingons who, when they discovered that the cargo was Tribbles, became so enraged that they killed the captain and senior officers, and stranded the crew on the asteroid.[1]
