U.S.S. Reliant[1]
U.S.S. Reliant[1]
Miranda class[2]

The Federation Starship Reliant was a Miranda class vessel; in July 2273, the Reliant underwent a major refit.[3] In 2280, the Reliant, under the command of Captain Clark Terrell, was assigned to Project Genesis. While searching for a lifeless world where the radical terraforming technology could be tested safely, the ship was seized by Khan Noonien Singh, who stranded the crew on the devastated world of Ceti Alpha V. The ship was destroyed several days later, when Khan detonated the Genesis Device in a last-ditch attempt to kill Admiral James T. Kirk.[1]

Although the "Federation Ship Recognition Manual"[3] listed the pre- and post-refit Reliant as Anton and Reliant classes, respectively, the class name was later established on film and in other media as Miranda class.
