Corbomite was a fictional substance created as part of a bluff by Captain James T. Kirk of the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 during a tense First Contact with Commander Balok of the First Federation Starship Fesarius on Stardate 1512.1. According to Kirk, corbomite was "a material and a device which prevents any attack on us. If any destructive energy touches our vessel, a reverse reaction of equal strength is created, … destroying the attacker."[1]
