Medication that could place a patient in a relaxed or unconscious state.[1] When Dr. McCoy remarked that he was having trouble sleeping, Captain Kirk recommended that he take a tranquilizer, saying, "Try taking one of those red pills you gave me last week. You'll sleep."[2]
