On Reference Stardate 1/0703.17 (17 March 2107), in the first real battle of the Romulan War, two squadrons of Romulan cruisers headed toward the Orion Colonies were met at Prantares by a Federation force of approximately equal size, tipped off by intelligence data obtained by Operation Calypso. The Battle of Prantares was a tactical draw. The Federation suffered much heavier losses, but forced the Romulans to turn back.[1]
