The Caretaker managed the amusement planet in the Omicron Delta region. When the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 crew explored the planet on Stardate 3025.3, he appeared and explained the planet's purpose, apologizing that he didn't realize at first that the crew didn't understand what was happening. When asked about his species and planet of origin, the Caretaker instead replied that "your race is not yet ready to understand us."[1] Also known as the Keeper of the Planet, he died some time prior to Stardate 5591.2, on the "Fifth Day of the Twelfth Moon, Year 7009 of this planet." He was interred by the planet's computer, which left a marker noting that he had been the last of his race.[2]
