The Klingon F-6 class battle frigate was a variant of the F-5 class, and was introduced in 2293. It was an interesting attempt to produce a more powerful frigate leader than the F-5L. An excellent design, it was unclear why only a handful were built. Nicknamed the "frignaught" class by Starfleet crews, the ships were named for "warrior colonies" that were established on subject planets to breed additional warriors for the Klingon Empire, which was largely a propaganda exercise to make the "colonial Klingons" more enthusiastic about the war effort, and to make the public point, which almost no one believed, that colonials were the social equals of Klingons born on Klinzhai. The F-6 class had a crew capacity of 260, featured stronger shields than the F-5, had a capacity of six shuttlecraft, two science labs, two transporters, one tractor beam emitter, and was armed with two Type-B missile launchers, four banks of Type-2 disruptors, five banks of Type-1 phasers, and a single bank of Type-3 phasers.[1]

Romulan

The Romulan Star Empire had a limited number of F-6 class battle frigates, which entered service in 2292. The F-6R (KFR) battle frigates featured a crew complement of 260, a capacity of seven shuttlecraft, and were equipped with two science labs, two transporters, and one tractor beam emitter. The F-6R was armed with three torpedo tubes with one dedicated to Type-G plasma torpedoes and the other two for Type-F plasma torpedoes, as well as five banks of Type-1 phasers.[1]
