By 2267, PXK reactors were considered obsolete, and U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 chief engineer Scott hadn't seen one in twenty years. The mining colony on Janus VI still used one, however, and when it was damaged by the Mother Horta, Scott was forced to devise a temporary repair until a missing part could be recovered.[1]
