Panther class (SFC)
Constructed on the same spaceframe as the Tiger class cruiser, the Panther class light cruiser (CL) was introduced circa 2250. Production of the Panther class was reduced when the Wildcat class battlecruiser (another Tiger class variant) was introduced in 2273, as many of the production lines used for the Panther were converted over to building Wildcats. The CL featured a crew complement of 340, a capacity of five shuttlecraft, and was equipped with two science labs, two transporters, two tractor beam emitters, and two mech tractors. The class was armed with two Expanding Sphere Generators, two banks of Type-2 disruptors, four banks of Type-1 phasers, and four banks of Type-3 phasers. The CL remained in service until 2282, when it was superseded by the CL+ refit, which was introduced in 2270. The CL+ had improved shields, and remained in service until 2295, when it was superseded by the CLP refit, which was introduced in 2286. The CLP had a reworked armament, replacing two of the Type-3 phaser banks with Type-1s.[1]
