Reference Stardate 1/7701 through 1/7712
January
- RSD 1/7701: The Second Babel Conference meets to address a number of questions, including the volatile issues raised by the Terra-Return League. After lengthy speeches, including those by the Chief of Star Fleet Command, Admiral Shepherd, and business magnate Carter Winston, a vote to dissolve the United Federation of Planets fails, and so the Federation remains intact. Immediately after the conference, the Terra-Return League is disbanded, ending any further political influence by the organization.[1][2]
March
- RSD 1/7703: The Hale class scout becomes operational, but is not equipped with the newer, more powerful dilithium-moderated warp drive. With the commissioning of the class, Star Fleet begins an extensive construction program oriented toward building ships designed to investigate unexplored space. An unusually small ship, the Hale class is cheap to produce. A total of 130 will be manufactured, and the class will remain in service until 2198.[1][2]
