Iron, element 26, was known since antiquity on Earth.[1] The asteroid upon which Outpost 4 along the Romulan Neutral Zone was constructed was almost solid iron.[2] Iron was a common element in the cores of terrestrial planets.[3][4] The planetoid Gamma Canaris N had significant amounts of nickel and iron in its core.[5]
