Rice wine, an alcoholic beverage, was also known as sake and was frequently served warm.[1] While stranded on the freezing planet Alfa 177 while the transporter was inoperative on Stardate 1672.1, Lieutenant Sulu suggested that the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 could lower a pot of coffee down on a rope, or, failing that, some rice wine.[2]
