Ruth was in a relationship with James T. Kirk that ended in 2252. While exploring the amusement planet in the Omicron Delta region on Stardate 3025.8, Kirk inadvertently conjured a simulacrum of Ruth while thinking about her.[1] Given the timing of their relationship, Ruth is likely to have been the "blonde lab technician" that Gary Mitchell "steered" toward Kirk while they were at Starfleet Academy, and whom Kirk nearly married.[2]
