The F-104 Starfighter[1] was a type of fighter aircraft used by the United States Air Force in 1969. Captain John Christopher flew an F-104 under the call sign "Bluejay 4" when he intercepted a UFO in July 1969 that turned out to be the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701, which had accidentally traveled back in time from Stardate 3113.2. The aircraft was destroyed when the Enterprise attempted to place it in a tractor beam, but the ship traveled in time once again to undo the damage it had caused to history, and the encounter with Christopher's aircraft was avoided.[2]
