The Romulan Imperial Ship Aries was an SNB-type Snipe class battle frigate, commissioned circa 2250 as an SNA-type frigate. The ship was refit to the SNAR refit specifications circa 2264, then to the SNP-type police ship specifications circa 2290 when the SNAR was removed from service. The ship was refit again to SNP+ specifications circa 2296, then returned to military service with a refit to the SNB battle frigate specifications circa 2317.[1]
