The Federation Starship Invicta, a Miranda class vessel, was commissioned in December 2274.[2] In August 2278, the Invicta, with the Constitution class U.S.S. Hornet NCC-1714, discovered hull and engine components of the missing U.S.S. Menke, 280 parsecs from the Menke's last known position 11 years earlier, baffling scientists.[3]
Although the "Federation Ship Recognition Manual"[2] listed the Invicta as Reliant class, the class name was later established on film and in other media as Miranda class.
