Chili peppers were a species of plant native to Earth and were used as a spice for food. On Stardate 1513.1, Commodore Jose Dominguez was impatient to receive a shipment of chili peppers from Captain Kirk of the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701. Kirk said that they were "prime Mexican reds" and that he had personally hand-picked them.[1]
