Lieutenant Helen Noel was a psychiatrist assigned to the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 in late 2266. She briefly met Captain Kirk at a Christmas party in the physics lab aboard the ship, although he didn't realize that she was assigned to the ship at the time. They met again some time later, when she was selected by the chief medical officer, Dr. McCoy, to join the captain on a landing party to the Tantalus V penal asylum on Stardate 2715.1. While at the asylum, Kirk was briefly conditioned by Dr. Tristan Adams to believe that much more had happened between Kirk and Noel during their initial encounter, and that he was now madly in love with her.[1]
