After the United Federation of Planets had been at war with the Klingon Empire for more than two decades, Lieutenant Commander Geordi La Forge served as chief engineer aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-D. La Forge was killed in 2366, when the Enterprise was destroyed while assisting the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-C in returning to its own time of 2344, a move that would prevent the war and alter the timeline.[1]
