The Alpha Leonis system was also known as Regulus.[1] In 2254, one of the possibilities that Captain Christopher Pike entertained as an option beyond Starfleet was to go into business on Regulus.[3] The system had at least five planets, including Regulus V.[4] Prior to the 24th century, the region was plagued by Gatherer raids. On Stardate 43421.9, a routine shipment of medical supplies was to be picked up at nearby Starbase 343 by the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-D.[5]
