Myriad Universes: Tantalus V
Tantalus V was the site of a Federation penal colony and asylum. In 2267 the asylum was run by Dr. Tristan Adams. That year, Adams' associate, Dr. Simon van Gelder, discovered that Adams had been experimenting on patients with his neural neutralizer device. Adams used the neural neutralizer on van Gelder — which caused him to appear to have multiple psychoses — and committed him to the asylum. On Stardate 2715.1, van Gelder escaped to the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701, and the truth of Adams' behavior was finally exposed, though Adams died during the incident.[1]
