The Black Knight was an android created by the computer of the amusement planet in the Omicron Delta region after Dr. Leonard McCoy commented to Yeoman Tonia Barrows that "a princess shouldn't be afraid, not with a brave knight to protect her." The knight appeared and impaled McCoy with his lance, killing him. Fortunately, he was quickly healed and revived by the planet's computer. The knight's skin was an artificial tissue similar to cellular castings used aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 for wound repairs, albeit much finer.[1]
