Ruth was in a relationship with James T. Kirk that ended in 2252. While exploring the amusement planet in the Omicron Delta region on Stardate 3025.8, Kirk inadvertently conjured a simulacrum of Ruth while thinking about her.[1] Given the timing of their relationship, Ruth may have been the "blonde lab technician" that Gary Mitchell "steered" toward Kirk while they were at Starfleet Academy.[2]
