- RSD 1/8606: Dilithium crystals are integrated into a new generation of engines capable of greater velocity, range, and thrust. The Sawyer class scouts are among the first ships to incorporate these engines, with wide use in non-combat areas of the Federation. The Sawyer class remains in service until 2203, and a total of 69 constructed.[2][3]

- RSD 1/8610: The cloaking device is perfected and is used successfully in Romulan vessels along the Klingon border.[4]
November
- RSD 1/8611: The Klingon D7A class cruiser enters service. Though the D7C does not enter production soon enough to see combat during the Four Years War, the D7 class, with its variants, becomes the mainstay of the Klingon fleet for nearly four decades.[3]
