J. Mia Colt[1] was born circa 2234.[2] While attending Starfleet Academy, she became romantically involved with another cadet, Alex Dumant. Though they had intended to arrange to be assigned to the same ship upon graduation, Colt accepted an offer from Commodore Robert April of a post aboard the U.S.S. Tiberius, which he had commanded prior to commanding the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701. This ended her relationship with Dumant, who was tragically killed aboard the U.S.S. Crazy Horse not long after, when the Tholians broke the truce at Kakrafoon. Colt transferred to the U.S.S. Hawking, and was satisfied with her career's progression when she was unexpectedly transferred to the Enterprise by April,[1] following the incident on Rigel VII on Stardate 2385.7.[3] The Hawking rendezvoused with the U.S.S. Savannah NCC-1622, and Colt had only an hour to pack and depart the ship. The Savannah then rendezvoused with the Enterprise, and Colt was brought aboard by the Shuttlecraft Balboa.[1] Colt was assigned as Captain Christopher Pike's yeoman, after the death of his previous yeoman on Rigel VII. She harbored an attraction to the captain, despite having only met him the day before, which was revealed by the Talosians when they abducted Pike, Lieutenant Commander Robbins, and Colt.[4]
