Metrons
The Metrons were an incredibly advanced and powerful species. When the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 and a Gorn ship passed through their space following an incident on Cestus III on Stardate 3045.6, the Metrons disabled both vessels, "prepared" a Class M planet, and transported Captain Kirk and the Gorn captain there to settle the dispute in a duel, all in a matter of minutes. While the Metron who appeared to Kirk at the end of the encounter appeared to be humanoid, that was apparently chosen as a convenient method of interacting with Kirk, as the other Metrons that interacted with the Enterprise crew appeared only as patterns of light on the viewscreen, indicating that they were noncorporeal lifeforms. The Metrons had extremely long lifespans, as that individual claimed to be 1500 years old.[1]
